Concept:
Seeing as we are all as a group fans of the film, we wanted
to make an end sequence so we could include some of the iconic scenes from the
film. Pulp Fiction was comics printed on pulp paper so we thought we could
animate the end sequence in a comic book style.
Technique & Approach:
So we started by researching different title sequences
including Pulp Fiction. Pulp Fictions title sequence consisted of typography so
we began brainstorming and trying to come up with a way of including scenes and
quotations from the film in the title sequence. Aoife began by making stencils
and creating typography to suit the mood of the film, Pat has been researching
and creating clips in relation to the movie also has researched the amount of
people behind the production of the film and the cast. And I have been working
on set development and character creation. At the moment we are working with
stop motion and characters, recreating some of the scenes from the movie.
Mood board:
1. The
contrast of the light flash on the dark background seemed more effective
visually.
2. Reflections
of the bullet can reveal actions off screen.
3. An
example of blood splatter pattern.
4. Using the
smoke trail off the bullet to reveal text i.e. Names of cast members and
director.
5. An
example of the style of character that we are considering using for the end
sequence.
6. Black and
white comic book form which will be used throughout the sequence.
7. Comic
book template to give an idea of the layout as you scrolls scene to scene.
8. Lettering
transforming into objects.
Audio: As a group we all decided on a soundtrack using a
tune recorded by Jimmy Hendrix. Titled ‘Cocaine’, it had the laid back vibe
that suits
